Glen Thomas Newman died on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was 57 years old. Glen was born November 24, 1955, in Memphis, TN and moved to Atlanta, GA in 1969 with his parents John and Miriam Newman. He was a well-known deck builder, with his own company, Newman Construction, specializing in beautiful, unusual and imaginative decks throughout the area north of Atlanta. Glen died suddenly of a heart attack at the home he built in Hall County, Georgia. He loved animals and was a dedicated volunteer with the Whiskers Project, a nonprofit cat rescue organization. In addition to his parents who live in Gainesville, GA, he leaves a sister, Sherri Janice Newman of Lula, GA and a brother and sister-in-law, John R. and Cindy Lynn Newman of Cumming, Ga. He also leaves a son, Eric Newman of Olympia, WA, and a daughter, Lauren Gilbert of Zionsville, PA. An older brother, Charles Paul Newman of Lawrenceville, GA, preceded him in death January 9, 2004. His dear friend and companion, Victoria Lindsey, was with him when he passed. Glen wished to be cremated and preferred that there not be any memorial service. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
