The thrift store provides financial assistance to the Whiskers Project which is a nonprofit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization. The Whiskers Project was founded in 2003 by Victoria Lindsey, former treasurer for the Humane Society Mountain Shelter. The organization is a nonprofit, trap, neuter-return (TNR) program that spays and neuters feral and stray cats in Union and surrounding counties in North Georgia. To date, a total of 2,500+ cats have been spayed and neutered in the North Georgia area. The thrift store also supports a specialized home that has been established for senior cats, many of which are in need of loving homes.
