Act now to save Georgia dogs!

​Here at Whiskers Project our focus is on helping cats and kitten, but we are aware that there are likely as many homeless dogs as cats in the North Georgia area and so we wanted to share this article with our friends and supporters. Many people who have dogs, have cats, and at heart we are all animal lovers.

Dear Friends:
 
Many Georgia insurance companies arbitrarily discriminate against a variety of breeds of dogs, even though these pets are well behaved. Sometimes, they even threaten to cancel your insurance policy if you don’t get rid of your pet. Best Friends Animal Society is working with Stubby’s Heroes, an advocacy group, to change that practice.
 
If you have experienced a problem with your insurance company, homeowners association or landlord simply because your dog is supposedly of a certain breed, we want to know more about it. The folks from Stubby’s Heros will meet with the state of Georgia’s insurance commissioner next week to present letters and photos from dog owners or rescue groups impacted by these discriminatory policies.

Please address a polite email to Insurance Commissioner Ralph T. Hudgens and tell him about your experience. If possible, please include a photo of your dog or family and send to [email protected] by September 26.
